IMPORTANCE OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF NATION

IMPORTANCE OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF NATION

-Anisha Shrestha

Generally, Education is an act of broadening mind. Education can be of different types such as theoretical, practical, vocational, technical, formal, informal, etc. technical education means the education for gaining skills in some subjects. Technical education is practical knowledge. It’s gaining skill in using machine and equipments in industry, nature and science.
Education in past was meant for discipline, emotion and thinking. The practiced education is mainly focused on theory and vocation. Technical education provides skill to learner. Vision memory is the most remembered memory. Learning inside four walls with teacher in front explaining the cause of every lesson is not applicable today. Every single chapter should be practically explained. Development of the nation depends on the path of education provided. Our country needs technical, skills, experts to improve agriculture to design buildings, roads, bridges and dams, hydro project to generate electricity.
One cannot swim by learning ways and guidelines on how to swim. S/he must get on swimming pool to actually swim. Academic education produces too many degree holders every year but most of them are unemployed. It’s because they are theory based degree holders not skill based. Technical knowledge about computer, machines and instruments is must. Unemployment can be solved through technical education. There must be computer experts, network experts. Machines are required here to make instruments to use different occupation. Unless we have skill manpower nation will not progress.
Technical education imparts knowledge of specific trade, craft or profession. Development of a nation depends on economic growth of a country. The economic growth of a country largely depends on technological improvements and on its technical manpower. Technical education, therefore, is very important for development of a nation. It provides the most potent means for development of skilled manpower as required by various sectors in the nation’s economy. In our everyday life the influence of science and technology is becoming so pervasive that man’s existence in this world is simply inconceivable in their absence today. So, technical education is must and is crucial part in development of nation. In this age of unemployment, only technical education can assure one of a job and a comfortable life living.

Technical education is timely and useful. Education is the single most powerful means to improve the quality of life, the single most powerful weapon against poverty and intolerance. Government of country need to be more aware of the social and economic relevance of skills and provide technical education as social investment for development of nation.
